Given its geostrategic importance, the Mediterranean has been the stage for countless historical events, many of them inseparable from the cultural progress of humanity, producing an impact that extends well beyond its territorial dimension - Portugal being a case in point - establishing itself as one of the most influential cultures in the world.<\/p>\r\n

This exhibition reveals precisely how this influence can be established in the artistic universe of contemporary ceramics. Based on a competition organized by the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and aimed at all of its members, forty-four (45) artists from twenty-six (26) countries were selected, and their work clearly demonstrates the inspirational power of the ancient culture of the Mediterranean.<\/p>\r\n

The exhibition is a rare opportunity to come into contact with a multifaceted set of works of great artistic quality in terms of what is being produced today in the field of international designer ceramics, expressed either by following the artistic tradition and techniques of antiquity, or through innovation, using renewed techniques reporting current socio-cultural or geopolitical themes inherent in the context of the Mediterranean or the world in which we live, such as forced migration, climate change or the timeless theme of the \u2018conflict\u2019 of cultures.<\/p>\r\n

The great ceramic tradition and culture that exists in Portugal is expressed in very diverse forms and expressions. The eight Portuguese members of the IAC, while not exhausting the diversity of proposals that exist in Portugal, certainly make up a very representative picture of the panorama of contemporary Portuguese ceramics.<\/p>\r\n

Organised by the IAC Exhibition Commission, the IAC Members' Exhibition \"Azulejos\" will feature ceramic tiles created by IAC members from around the world, assembled into a mosaic worthy of its name. Featuring the unique tiles from almost 100 IAC members, the exhibition, based on the general theme of the Congress \"Ceramics in the Mediterranean World: From Antiquity to Contemporaneity\", celebrates Mediterranean ceramics by inviting global contributions of tiles inspired by traditional azulejos.<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n

IAC BENELUX MEMBERS' EXHIBITION: FUSION OF VISION<\/h3>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n

The Benelux members will showcase 24 ceramic works at the Congress. This exhibition in Portugal acts as a preview for a larger traveling exhibition set to launch in May 2025, where more monumental ceramics will be displayed. The upcoming exhibition has already secured venues in Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and the Netherlands, promising to bring a significant presence of Benelux ceramics to an international audience.<\/p>\r\n

En raison de son importance g\u00e9ostrat\u00e9gique, la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e a \u00e9t\u00e9 le th\u00e9\u00e2tre d'innombrables \u00e9v\u00e9nements historiques, dont beaucoup sont indissociables du progr\u00e8s culturel de l'humanit\u00e9, produisant un impact qui d\u00e9passe largement sa dimension territoriale - le Portugal en est un exemple - et s'imposant comme l'une des cultures les plus influentes au monde.
Cette exposition r\u00e9v\u00e8le pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment comment cette influence peut s'\u00e9tablir dans l'univers artistique de la c\u00e9ramique contemporaine. Sur la base d'un concours organis\u00e9 par l'Acad\u00e9mie internationale de la c\u00e9ramique (AIC) et destin\u00e9 \u00e0 l'ensemble de ses membres, quarante-cinq (45) artistes de vingt-six (26) pays ont \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s, et leurs \u0153uvres d\u00e9montrent clairement le pouvoir d'inspiration de l'ancienne culture de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e.
L'exposition est une occasion rare d'entrer en contact avec un ensemble d'\u0153uvres aux multiples facettes et d'une grande qualit\u00e9 artistique par rapport \u00e0 ce qui est produit aujourd'hui dans le domaine de la c\u00e9ramique de design international, exprim\u00e9e soit en suivant la tradition artistique et les techniques de l'antiquit\u00e9, soit en innovant, en utilisant des techniques renouvel\u00e9es rapportant des th\u00e8mes socioculturels ou g\u00e9opolitiques actuels inh\u00e9rents au contexte de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e ou du monde dans lequel nous vivons, tels que les migrations forc\u00e9es, le changement climatique ou le th\u00e8me intemporel du \u00ab conflit \u00bb des cultures.<\/p>\r\n
